WISCONSIN BANKER ELECTED CHAIR OF ABA AGRICULTURAL BANKING COMMITTEE

WASHINGTON – Samuel J. Miller, senior vice president of Agribusiness and Food Banking for M&I
Bank – the largest Wisconsin-based bank, and an affiliate of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation – has been elected chair of the American Bankers Association's Agriculture and Rural Bankers Committee for the 2008-2009 association year.

Miller has 24 years of agricultural banking experience and is also a member of the Wisconsin Dairy 2020 Council, school director for the Wisconsin Bankers Advanced Ag Banking School, and treasurer and board member of the Dairy Business Innovation Center.

"Agricultural bankers serve an important role in providing financial services to the farms, agribusinesses, and main street businesses that supply food, fiber, and fuel to consumers," said Miller. "It is an honor to represent these bankers who support the local, national, and global economy by continuing to meet the needs of the agribusiness industry."

"American farmers and agribusinesses are some of the most productive and innovative in the world. Their continued success is aided by the products and services they receive from banks and bankers across the country," added Miller.

Miller, who is based in Appleton, Wis. holds a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from University of Wisconsin and an MBA from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Miller replaces outgoing committee chairman W. Jeff Greenlee, who is president of NBanC in Altus, Oklahoma.

The American Bankers Association brings together banks of all sizes and charters into one association that works to enhance the competitiveness of the nation's banking industry and strengthen America's economy and communities. Its members – the majority of which are banks with less than $125 million in assets – represent over 95 percent of the industry's $13.3 trillion in assets and employ over 2 million men and women.
