WASHINGTON, D.C. – America’s Community Bankers today announced an alliance with Compliance Coach to inform and educate community bankers on privacy compliance through PrivacyU.com.

“ACB is delighted that this alliance will provide our members with web-based turnkey solutions to what is perhaps the single most important consumer issue of the decade customer privacy,” said ACB President Diane Casey at a media briefing.

“It is one more opportunity for ACB members to take advantage of distance learning and improve their skills and knowledge without incurring travel costs and losing time from the office,” she added.

“The cornerstone of community banking is maintaining customer trust. We believe that PrivacyU.com will provide ACB members with immediate access to information that will not only help them comply with new privacy requirements, but that will help them exceed the intent and spirit of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act’s statutory language,” Casey added.

Casey noted that the G-L-B privacy rules take effect on November 13, with compliance voluntary until July 1, 2001. “ACB is committed to have all of our members fully compliant well before the mandatory date,” said Casey. “We believe that the tools provided to community bankers through PrivacyU.com will be a critical element in achieving that goal.”

PrivacyU.com will provide ACB members with a number of helpful applications including:

  • Privacy Tools including such critical compliance aids as a Privacy Policy Generator that will help devise required public privacy notices.

  • Privacy Experts including access to the nation’s leading privacy regulators and experts through online seminars and private e-mails.

  • Privacy Education providing comprehensive and dynamic online training courses including a set of seven comprehensive privacy training courses with one track for management and one track for front-line personnel.

  • Privacy Knowledge Vault including privacy definitions, details and frequently asked questions to maximize banker understanding.

“ACB members have a longstanding tradition of maintaining their customer’s trust and ensuring the privacy of their personal financial information,” said Casey. “The tools provided through Compliance Coach by PrivacyU.com will help preserve that tradition of trust.”
