ACB HOUSING PARTNERS FOUNDATION CONDUCTS MAJOR FUND DRIVE FOR SEATTLE CHILDREN’S HOME
WASHINGTON, D.C. – ACB Housing Partners Foundation has announced that the Seattle Children’s Home is the designated charity for its 2000 fund drive, and will be presented with a check on Oct. 31 during ACB’s Annual Convention in Seattle.
ACB Housing Partners Foundation is the charitable arm of America’s Community Bankers, a national trade association representing community banks of all charter types and sizes, including 19 in Washington state.
“We chose Seattle Children’s Home because of its fine work in helping troubled young adults transition to mainstream society,” said Barb Fitzgerald, co-chair of ACB Housing Partners Foundation. “Our philosophy is to forge a relationship with an outstanding charity in each convention city and leave a legacy that says ‘we care’ about your community.” Ms. Fitzgerald is the wife of ACB Chairman William A. Fitzgerald, who is also chairman and CEO, Commercial Federal Bank, FSB, Omaha.
Seattle Children’s Home, founded in 1884, is a comprehensive health facility offering a wide variety of services for children and youth in crisis. It serves 1,700 children and young adults each year in 12 different programs. Funds raised by the ACB Housing Partners Foundation will go to two transitional group homes operated by the children’s home, the M.J. Harder House and Cedar House. Both serve emotionally troubled young adults, aged 18 to 22.
“We are delighted and moved that a national association would reach out to us with an unexpected gift from Housing Partners,” said David Cousineau, president of Seattle Children’s Home.
ACB Housing Partners Foundation is celebrating its 10th annual fund drive for charity. Hundreds of community banks and industry organizations are participating in this year’s drive through donations to a sustaining fund, a silent auction and a benefit concert featuring singer Marilyn McCoo of The Fifth Dimension.
The Foundation was formed by a group of spouses of ACB members who decided they wanted to become more active in carrying out the traditions and values of community banking. Since 1991, the foundation has donated more than $715,000 to charities. The gifts have benefited hundreds of battered women, at-risk children and homeless families in Washington, D.C., San Diego, New Orleans, Boston, Atlanta, San Francisco, Chicago and Orlando.
The ACB Housing Partners Foundation has received national recognition, including community service awards from the American Society of Association Executives and the Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau.
America’s Community Bankers is the national trade association committed to shaping the future of
banking by being the innovative industry leader strengthening the competitive position of
community banks. To learn more about ACB, visit
