ACB APPLAUDS SENATE PASSAGE OF CLASS ACTION REFORM BILL
Statement by Diane Casey-Landry, president and CEO, America’s Community Bankers, on passage by the Senate today of class action reform legislation:
America’s Community Bankers applauds Senate passage of class action legislation without amendment so that the House can pass the bill and send it to President Bush for his signature.
The bill directly helps community banks by addressing abusive class action lawsuits — and their high costs. At the same time, the bill includes important protections for consumers who become plaintiffs in these lawsuits.
America’s Community Bankers hopes that the environment in which the class action reform bill passed will extend to passage of other needed legal reforms, including long overdue enactment of changes to the bankruptcy code.
America’s Community Bankers is the national trade association committed to shaping the future of
banking by being the innovative industry leader strengthening the competitive position of
community banks. To learn more about ACB, visit
