ACB COMMENTS ON ENGAGEMENT LETTER GUIDANCE
Editors, Reporters:
America’s Community Bankers has advised the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council that it supports efforts to curb the inappropriate use of engagement letters to limit external auditors’ liability. However, ACB expressed concern that, unless there is similar action by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the agencies’ guidance will not be fully effective.
