ACB URGES SUPPORT FOR REAL ESTATE BROKERAGE BILL
Editors, Reports:
America’s Community Bankers urged members of the House Financial Services Committee today to support the Fair Choice and Competition in Real Estate Act. The committee will hold a hearing on the issue on Wednesday.
The bill, H.R. 2660, would clarify that real estate brokerage activities and real estate management activities are authorized financial activities for financial holding companies and financial subsidiaries of national banks.
ACB said that the National Association of Realtors has been “exploiting the appropriations process to block” a rulemaking by the Federal Reserve Board and the Treasury secretary.
