WASHINGTON, D.C. — America’s Community Bankers has named Anita Gentle Newcomb, a leading consultant to the banking industry on strategic and financial issues, as president and CEO of ACB’s for-profit subsidiary, ACB Partners, Inc.

ACB President and CEO Diane M. Casey said that filling the position marks completion of the reorganization of ACB that she began when becoming president nearly two years ago.

“Anita knows banking from the inside out, as a former banker, and more recently as an adviser to financial services companies,” said Casey. “She brings to ACB Partners a wealth of experience in developing and implementing strategies that help community banks remain competitive.”

Newcomb said: “ACB Partners’ goal is to provide a business-solutions marketplace for ACB members that brings industry-leading products and services to members with advantaged access and compelling value. We will continue to build that marketplace through joint ventures and alliances with financial services companies that bring established reputations, creativity and innovative products and services to community banking. ACB’s recent high-leverage programs with partners such as Fannie Mae and Lehman Brothers Bank’s “Financial Freedom” reverse mortgage program are just two examples of that strategy.”

ACB Partners currently offers members advantaged products and services in such areas as mortgage lending and servicing, credit and debit cards, insurance, the Internet and technology, investment services, performance analysis, employee benefit and executive compensation, and commercial and retail products.

Newcomb has two decades of experience in banking and consulting. She began her career in banking in 1982 at Cullen/Frost Bankers, Inc., San Antonio, and then Security Pacific Corp., Los Angeles. Since 1990, her financial services consulting career has focused primarily in the areas of investment banking and strategic management consulting for companies nationwide. Located in Washington, D.C., she has held senior positions as vice president, BEI Golembe; principal, The Secura Group; managing director, Professional Bank Services, Inc.; and president and managing director of her own firm, A.G. Newcomb & Co.

Newcomb received a masters in business administration from the University of Houston and a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Auburn University. She is a member of the Advisory Board to Auburn University’s College of Business. Newcomb is also a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
