AMERICA’S COMMUNITY BANKERS ANNOUNCES
NEWLY ENHANCED EXECUTIVE MBA PROGRAM FOR COMMUNITY BANKERS
WASHINGTON, D.C. — America’s Community Bankers announced its newly enhanced Executive MBA program today, joining with two leading graduate business schools to offer a unique accredited MBA. ACB launched the first and only Executive MBA for community bankers in 1999.
ACB is partnering with the University of Maryland University College to offer its Executive MBA in Bank Management, and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst to offer its Online MBA in Financial Services Management.
“ACB has the first, best, and now better, Executive MBA for community bankers,” said ACB Chairman D. Russell Taylor, a graduate of ACB’s National School of Banking. “ACB’s education programs help develop the next generation of bank officers to serve our customers and communities.”
“It is ACB’s education programs that take select individuals to a new level of excellence, and help the next generation of leaders emerge,” he said. Taylor is also president and CEO, Rahway Savings Institution, Rahway, N.J.
“These unique programs are designed for experienced managers in the financial services industry who are members of the senior management team, or who have been identified by their banks as candidates for broader responsibilities,” said Gloria Pritchard-Becker, ACB vice president of education.
The program involves two parts. Students must first complete ACB’s National School of Banking, a graduate-level program designed to provide an in-depth study of the community bank industry. In addition to residency sessions, the program includes research assignments and distance learning modules.
The second part of the program involves studies at the University of Maryland University College or the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Both universities provide advance standing for National School graduates.
The UMUC program combines the accessibility and convenience of online education with the opportunity to build a cohesive support team through a face-to-face orientation workshop. The program begins in April 2004, with an application deadline of Dec. 1, 2003.
The UMass-Amherst program provides maximum flexibility through its totally online course offerings. The program begins in the spring of 2004, with an application deadline of Dec. 1, 2003.
The next offering of the National School of Banking is July 2004, with an April 30, 2004, application deadline. Previous National School graduates are already eligible to apply for admission to the UMUC and UMass programs.
To demonstrate its commitment to professional development and executive education, America’s Community Bankers will annually award $5,000 scholarships to five graduates of the National School to be used in ACB’s Executive MBA program. The scholarships will be awarded at ACB’s National Winter Management Conference in December in New York City.
