AMERICA’S COMMUNITY BANKERS ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS, ADDITIONS TO GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT
WASHINGTON, D.C. — America’s Community Bankers announced today a number of promotions and additions to its Government Relations Department designed to help the national trade association better represent community banks’ interests in Washington.
“America’s Community Bankers has put together an outstanding government relations staff to advance the legislative and regulatory goals of community banks,” said ACB President and CEO Diane M. Casey. “Our team is remarkably talented, with the expertise and experience to work effectively with Congress and the regulatory agencies on behalf of our diverse members.”
Two senior members of the department’s legislative unit have been promoted to director positions. They are: Eric Mondres, director and government relations counsel, and Steve Verdier, director and legislative counsel.
Joining the department’s legislative unit is Priya Dayananda, a veteran Capitol Hill staff member. Before joining ACB, she served as legislative director for Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) and as his legislative liaison as a member of the House Financial Services Committee.
Her prior service also includes serving as senior legislative assistant for Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) and as a legislative assistant to Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas).
Previously, Dayananda was director of government relations for the National Association of Minority Contractors. She served as an admissions counselor specializing in minority student recruitment and retention for Pennsylvania State University, where she had received a masters degree.
Joining the department’s regulatory unit is Krista Shonk, who graduated this year from West Virginia University with a juris doctor degree. She received her undergraduate degree from Bridgewater College, where she was a George C. Marshall Scholar and chair of the Honor Council.
ACB recently announced that Joseph B. Blalock will head the department’s new section on financial and technology policy as its director. The unit will also provide advocacy and advice on accounting and tax issues.
America’s Community Bankers is the national trade association committed to shaping the future of
banking by being the innovative industry leader strengthening the competitive position of
