WASHINGTON, D.C. — A veteran community banker has been named to the new Small Business Advisory Committee of the Financial Accounting Standards Board. Darrel M. Posegate, executive vice president and chief financial officer, Home Federal Bank, Sioux Falls, S.D., will represent the interests of community banking on the 24-person committee.

The committee will advise FASB on the unique challenges small businesses, including community banks, face on financial accounting and reporting standards. The committee's first meeting is May 11.

“America's Community Bankers was pleased to nominate Darrel for this important undertaking to help FASB better understand how its accounting standards will impact smaller companies with fewer resources,” said Diane Casey-Landry, ACB president and CEO.

Posegate's banking career spans more than two decades. Prior to joining Home Federal two years ago, he was employed by smaller community banks that offered commercial banking products and services to the small business market. Posegate is a certified public accountant, who previously worked for a small accounting firm in Iowa.
