ACB STATEMENT ON THE CONFIRMATION OF BANKING AGENCY OFFICIALS
Statement by Diane Casey-Landry, president and CEO, America’s Community Bankers, on Senate confirmation of John Reich to be director of the Office of Thrift Supervision, John Dugan to be Comptroller of the Currency and Marty Gruenberg to be vice chairman of the FDIC:
America’s Community Bankers is pleased that the Senate moved quickly to confirm the nominations of John Reich, John Dugan and Marty Gruenberg to fill vacancies at the federal bank regulatory agencies. The nominees are very well qualified, they know the industry and the issues, and will hit the ground running.
ACB intends to work closely with each of them on issues critical to the nation’s community banks. These include maintaining the competitive balance between community banks and the large, internationally active banks under the Basel II capital regime; the ongoing joint agency project to reduce regulatory burden; and the issues surrounding compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
America’s Community Bankers is the national trade association committed to shaping the future of
banking by being the innovative industry leader strengthening the competitive position of
community banks. To learn more about ACB, visit
