SIX WOMEN MEMBERS OF AMERICA’S COMMUNITY BANKERS AND ACB’S PRESIDENT AND CEO HONORED BY U.S. BANKER MAGAZINE
WASHINGTON, D.C. — For the third year in a row, women executives of banks that are members of America’s Community Bankers have been honored by U.S. Banker magazine, and ACB President and CEO Diane Casey-Landry has been named one of the Most Powerful Women in Washington.
U.S. Banker placed four of the ACB bankers among the magazine’s 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking. They are: Peyton R. Patterson, chairman, president and CEO, NewAlliance Bank, New Haven, Conn.; Marion Sandler, co-CEO, World Savings and Loan Association, Oakland; Constance H. Lau, president and CEO, American Savings Bank, Honolulu; and Donna Sylver, senior vice president and CFO, Mutual Community Savings Bank, Durham, N.C. The chosen bankers were among 5,070 nominations received by the magazine.
The magazine selected two ACB members among the 25 Women Bankers to Watch. They are: Pamela Montpelier, president and CEO, Strata Bank, Franklin, Mass.; and Garnetta Massey, senior vice president, head of business development and marketing, The Harbor Bank of Maryland, Baltimore.
“This is an extraordinary group of women bankers,” said ACB Chairman Harry P. Doherty. “Each in her own way has left a mark on the banking industry and deserves the recognition that U.S. Banker has bestowed. We congratulate them on their achievements and for being honored,” said Doherty, who is also vice chairman, Independence Community Bank Corp., Brooklyn, N.Y.
Casey-Landry was named by the magazine as one of the Most Powerful Women in Washington in financial services. Casey-Landry “is well known for her effective lobbying. . .,” the magazine said. Ricki Helfer, former chairman of the FDIC, was quoted in the magazine as saying, “Diane is very savvy, very thoughtful. She’s very good at reading the tea leaves.”
In conjunction with the magazine ranking, U.S. Banker and SourceMedia will host the 3rd Annual Most Powerful Women in Banking Gala in New York City on October 20.
