WASHINGTON, D.C. — America’s Community Bankers announced today that it has named Stephen K. Kenneally to the position of director, payments and technology policy. In this role, he will provide expertise on issues such as Check 21, identity theft, data security and electronic banking.

“Steve is a knowledgeable and well-regarded expert in his field,” said Diane Casey-Landry, ACB’s president and CEO. “He will be a great addition to our government relations team and a great resource for our members. He will monitor and report on the latest developments in the financial services technology arena to keep our community bankers well-informed and up-to-date.”

Prior to joining ACB, Kenneally spent six years at the Department of Treasury, where he served in the Financial Management Service bureau managing financial institutions collecting funds on behalf of the government. He was also charged with overseeing Treasury’s effort to improve its collections system by migrating from traditional paper check settlement to an automated process utilizing electronic check images through Check 21 processing and converting payments to ACH transactions.

Prior to that he worked for several brokerage firms, including Shearson Lehman Hutton, Inc. He received an M.B.A. degree from the George Washington University and a B.S. degree from Boston College.
